Hello December!

It is finally December and there is literally just 23 days left till the 1st of January 2016! Throughout this year, I have met such a great range of individuals over on Instagram, Tumblr and in real life. All sharing my same love for the world of reading. All incredibly addicted to book buying and excessively reading, putting all responsibilities on hold (yes, i am VERY guilty of that!)

Before the year ends, whilst I have read many amazing books, I do want to get on to reading some books before the end of 2016! In order to encourage myself, I thought “Hey, why not post a list of the top 10 books i wanna read on social media? That way, I’ll actually try to read them sometime soon!”

So, without further ado *drumroll* here goes!

(this is in no particular order)

  1. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

2. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

3. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

4. Crown of Midnight by Sarah J Maas

5. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (whole series) by J.K Rowling

6. Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman

7. Flawed by Cecilia Ahern

8. The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson

9. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

10. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

That is my list of TEN books i wish to get to before the end of 2016! Please feel free to recommend any others! (I realize i missed out a few contemporaries but i will do a separate post for that).

Until next time x

All the bright places by Jennifer Niven

Hi guys,

After my first ever post here, I thought I’d kick things off with a book review ☺ This is completely spoiler free (doesn’t contain any spoilers).

First off – here is a synopsis, which is on the blurb of the book.

Theodore Finch wants to take his own life. Violet Markey is devastated by her sisters death. They meet on the ledge of the school bell tower and their story begins. It’s only together that they can be themselves. As Violet’s world grows, Finch’s shrinks. How far will Violet go to save the boy she has come to love?

This was such a beautiful, eye opening book. It is told in the narrative of both Finch and Violet which gives you a full glimpse of the whole story. It is raw, real and the writing style had me turning the pages so fast. It is now one of my all time favourite contemporary standalone and regardless of what you may think this story is far from clichéd. It is real and applicable as well as targets a dark topic, suicide. I loved the character Violet as she was heartbroken and sincere about her sisters passing but her character development has you loving her character. Finch is also an amazingly talented boy who eventually saves Violet and your heart will soar when reading his narrative.

At the end of this novel, I was left destroyed by words on a page. Words that both moved me and frustrated me. I had to close the book and breathe before I continued on…only to cry my eyeballs out unto my friend’s copy of this beauty. If there’s one book you read this year, it’s this one. No exaggeration. No lies. Just a pure honest story.

HI! Welcome to Dee’s Library, where there’ll be everything from book recommendations to free ebooks to book reviews and other bookish things! I’m hoping that you’ll stick around and feel free to comment and share! To start things off, here are ten facts about me.

Here goes!
1) I am a bibliophile (well duh!)
2) Chocolate and I are soul mates
3) I procrastinate everything. I even procrastinate sleeping. No joke.
4) Arrow and The Flash are one of my favourite shows.
5) I am of Somali background but I was born in Denmark and I have been residing in the UK for nearly 10 years (did that make sense?)
6) Spring is my favourite season.
7) I am 17 years old and I am an Aries. Might explain why I love spring considering I’m a spring baby.
8) The Lunar Chronicles is a treasure series for me. You need to check it out.
9) My Go-to genres are fantasy and contemporary.
10) I am grateful that there’s Youtube. But not when I have homework.

And that’s it! Comment down below any random facts about you! Feel free to share this with friends and family!

Till next time,
Dee
